Want a Cheerful Yellow Tulip Garden Next Spring? Design and Plant One This Fall!
Growing tulip flowers can be a highly enjoyable and creative activity, especially when you educate yourself on the craft of tulip bulb planting. The types of tulip flowers and the time of year that you first plant tulip bulbs depend upon where you live in the world.
Knowing when to plant them and where is very helpful. It also depends upon what results you would expect from tulip planting. Usually those who plant tulips like to arrange them in groups by bloom time and/or flower height.
There are literally hundreds of combinations of tulip colors and varieties that you can grow on your property, whether in a field, a garden, as a border or in a container.
Creating a cheerful yellow tulip garden involves knowing that there are quite a few options of yellow flowers to choose from. This will help you create the brightest looking yellow flower garden that glows as if it were the sun.
You have quite a few options to choose from when creating a yellow tulip garden. You can use this opportunity to your advantage. One of the brightest yellow tulips is the single-flower blooming flower called the Golden Parade tulip. This jumbo sized perennial flower blossom has a hint of goldenrod in it and has a tall sturdy stem. This flower's blooming peak is in the middle of the spring and grows up to 26 inches tall.
You could plant a variety of other yellow tulips such as the double blossoming Sunrise tulip and the single blossoming Big Smile tulip. These both bloom in late spring and the Big Smile tulip is one of the brightest yellow tulips that could be perfect for introducing the beginning of the summer season. The Big Smile tulip stands up to 26 inches tall. The True and Fair tulip is shorter, at only up to 16 inches tall. However, since the color and texture of these flowers would go well together.
Depending upon what kind of result you expect when planting, you may want to make sure that all the tulips that you plant together bloom at the same time. It is also recommended that you pick tulips to plant together of the same height.
Consider how a garden may look when different tulip shades and varieties are planted next to each other. Depending on the timing, one variety may blossom in early Spring (mid-March) while another may bloom in late Spring (mid-May.) The density of flowers in your garden depends on the number of tulip bulbs you plant. This relies on the size of the bulb and the blooming season. A tall tulip that grows 28" to 36" high may need to have bulbs planted six to nine inches apart, while a tulip plant that grows 18" to 24" high may need to have bulbs planted only three to six inches apart.
If you know what you want your garden to look like in the Spring, start by designing it in the Fall. Know what bulbs to buy, how far apart to plant them and how to get them started so that the plants will be vibrant and hardy in the spring.
It is not recommended that you try to just plant any two tulips together. For example, you would not want to plant a bright pink tulip with a light yellow tulip. These colors have a tendency to clash and you would not want a yellow tulip garden that clashes. Yellow and red tulips or yellow and orange tulips make an excellent combination.
Of course, you can arrange and design a tulip garden by single or multiple colors. Yellow tulips are available in fringed tulips, parrot tulips, single tulips, and double tulips.
The options are endless in designing your own tulip flower garden for your home. The time to make your plans is now, to fill your home garden with a bright, cheerful yellow tulip garden.
