Save Money On Fresh Food Without Gardening
Tips to save money on fresh foods.
Wouldn't it be ideal if we could all grow our own food. Not only would you know just what went into creating those great tasting green beans, they'd cost you less too. But not everybody has the privilege of plenty of land to grow their own food on. Gardening also takes time and energy. Your favorite fruit may not grow well in your area. I could go on and on listing reasons people have chosen to purchase their food rather than grow it themselves. The fact remains that more people buy their watermelon at the grocery store than walk into the backyard and pick one.
The grocery store is not the only place to pick up fresh produce and fruits. Many times it can be the most expensive place to purchase such items. You have to be creative and use your imagination to find the best deals. Keep your eyes open, and you'll be amazed at the possibilities to save money that you have passed by.
Do you have friends or family members that have a garden? Ask if you can help in their garden for a little of the harvest. Maybe they need a babysitter for Friday night instead. You'll never know unless you ask.
Check your local orchards for you pick days. Many have days when you can come and pick all you can for a set price. Or fill this basket for a low fee. Local farmers may do the same when they have an abundance at harvest time.
Some grocery stores sell their "seconds" for next to nothing. Our local Kroger will give you the fruit on the toss it day for free. Bruised and almost no good fruits make great jellys and jams. Don't think that just because it is a little rough around the edges, the entire fruit or vegetable is bad. And if it is free, it is certainly worthy using some how.
Your corner fruit stand my offer food for less. But be careful, many of these are higher than grocery stores on some items.
Once you get your hands on some inexpensive fresh food, make sure you don't let it go to waste. Can it, freeze it or dry it. Just make sure you use it or your time spent finding it will be wasted. When you waste time no matter how great the bargain, you've lost something you can't get back.

How to set a formal tablecheryl wheelerExplains how to set a formal table
How to set the perfect formal table
Start with your table covering, linen is nice and is frequently used in combination with lace. The next thing to consider is your napkins which should match the tablecloth. A table runner can add a dramatic touch and bring color to your table. Now because this is formal you will want all your plates, silverware and stemware to match.
Place the charger plate first. It should be one inch from the edge. Put the dinner plate in the center of the charger plate. The soup bowl is centered upon the dinner plate. Above and to the left goes the salad plate with the bread plate to the left of it. Some place the salad plate under the soup bowl. This makes a lovely look with all your dishes arranged in size.
Now let us place the silverware. The dinner fork is placed to the left of the dinner plate with the salad fork the left of it. If you will be serving an appetizer that requires a fork then place the appetizer fork to the left of the salad fork. Place the bread knife across the bread plate. On the right side of the dinner plate place first the knife, sharp edge facing the plate and next to it on its right place the soup spoon, to the right of the soup spoon place the appetizer knife. The dessert spoon and fork should go horizontally above the dinner plate and with handles opposing each other. Basically you want the utensils that are used first on the outermost so as people eat the gradually move to the inside.
Next, place the white wine glass above the soup spoon, the red wine glass slightly up and left of it and the water glass slightly up and left of the wine glass or behind both wine glasses forming a triangle. If you will be serving coffee with dessert then after the entre plates are removed and the desert plates brought out, place a cup and saucer to the right of the dessert plate with a teaspoon placed on the saucer.
Now napkins can be folded simply on the diagonal or you can get more creative and do some fancy folding. Place these on the dinner plate, to the left of your place setting or put into the water glass.
Final touches add more elegance. Dont forget the center piece. Do make sure that your guests view of each other is not hampered by a tall flower arrangement. Place cards should be used for a larger dinner party. Traditionally, the host and hostess, sit at opposite ends of the table.

Dedication vs. Garden State
Sat, 05 Jul 2008 22:47:21 -0700
This film: Is so much better than this one: After watching Dedication, my first thought was that it was a really cute and entertaining alternative to Garden State (why do people like this movie?). There are certainly parallels between the two, but Dedication is about one thousand times more enjoyable. It’s a bit of a romantic comedy staring Mandy Moore & Billy Crudup who are attempting to write a children’s book. There are grand gestures, confusion & obsessive compulsiv
